Blackpool captain George Honeyman has had his red card from the match against Cambridge United overturned on appeal. The Football Association's regulatory commission ruled it a case of wrongful dismissal, quashing the automatic three-match ban.

Honeyman was sent off for violent conduct early in the League One match. His dismissal did not prevent Cambridge United from securing a 1-0 victory, with Gassan Ahadme scoring the winner late in the game. That result was part of a strong run for Cambridge.

Blackpool head coach Ian Evatt confirmed his club would appeal against the player’s dismissal, which came in his first match back after an injury absence. The FA’s statement said: "Blackpool’s George Honeyman will be available for their next three matches following a successful claim of wrongful dismissal."

The decision means Honeyman is free to face Leyton Orient this weekend, while Cambridge United turn their focus to extending their unbeaten run. They travel to face Barnsley, looking to build on their current form.
