Match Summary

In their final pre-season friendly before the new campaign, Newmarket Town demonstrated their formidable attacking abilities by defeating Cambridge United Under-18s 6-0. The match took place this evening and saw a ruthless display from the Jockeys.

The game began with Newmarket establishing an early lead when Josh Lee broke through in the 26th minute. U’s goalkeeper Zak Massoud's pass was intercepted inside the box, and after the ball had been worked to Lee, he managed to slot it past the Cambridge United keeper for a neat low finish.

Five minutes later, Theo Goddard added another goal to Newmarket's tally. The young striker was fouled around 20 yards from goal, leading to an awarded free-kick. Oscar Dean took advantage of the situation and curled the ball into the bottom corner of Massoud’s net with precision.

Goals Galore

The second half saw Goddard continue his impressive form as he opened up a shooting opportunity from 20 yards out. His shot was unstoppable, finding its way into the top corner of Massoud's goal. Goddard then turned creator for Newmarket's fourth goal with a well-driven corner to the back post.

Josh Coulson, who is a former Cambridge defender, headed the ball back across goal, leaving Prince Mutswungama unmarked at the back post. Mutswungama capitalized on this opportunity and finished off the move with ease.

As most of his teammates were substituted, Goddard remained on the field for the remainder of the match. In the 80th minute, his shot was spilled by Massoud, allowing Fin Whiteley to pounce from close range and add another goal to Newmarket's tally.

The final goal came in the 90th minute when Whiteley completed a neat passing move involving both Osei and Mutswungama, securing the 6-0 victory for Newmarket Town.
