Cambridge United manager Neil Harris has praised the performance of striker Louis Appere in the 2-1 win over Barnet. Harris highlighted Appere's decision-making and timing of his release, saying he was 'exceptional' and 'unlucky not to score in the first half.' The 27-year-old Scottish striker regularly led the U's attack on the way to automatic promotion last season, making 44 appearances in all competitions. Harris insisted that Appere still provides plenty to the team, despite only returning eight goals. The head coach said: 'He was excellent. We saw a different Louis Appere than the one who played Barnet last year, when he got bullied and out-run. Today, we saw a player playing with real confidence.' Harris also emphasized the importance of Appere's role in both boxes, saying he's 'an unbelievable presser of the ball' and 'competes all the time.' Cambridge United's next fixture is vs Barnsley at home on 2027-01-16.
